Palacio National de Sintra II   Very likely, the palace was built on the site of the residence of the former Moorish rulers of the region. The main building programs were carried out by King John I, who rebuilt the Palace, and by King Manuel I, wo added the Manuelite wing, giving the Palace its present look.
