2013-01-19 Captive: Butterflies and Orchids

I am not a macro photographer but wanted to give the macro mode of my kit lens a try. Visiting an exhibition of tropical butterflies at the Botanical Garden in Munich was a perfect opportunity. It is very warm and humid and there is a constant fog of sprayed water in the exhibition room, having a weather sealed camera and lens was definitely an advantage. The use of tripods and flash is forbidden and it was rather crowded but i think i managed some nice close ups anyway. The room next to the butterflies features some nice orchids and although i am not particular to flowers i like the clolors.
